ÁNGEL ZALDÍVAR SUBSTITUTION
The inclusion of Ángel Zaldívar at halftime benefited the rojiblanco offensive. Víctor Manuel Vucetich chose to give minutes to the Chivas' youth academy graduate instead of José Juan Macías, who did not have a dangerous opportunity in the first 45 minutes of the match.
In the 80th minute, the forward became a factor in Chivas' victory against Atlas, after a pass from Alexis Vega, Zaldívar found himself alone in front of the enemy's goal to push the ball with his left foot.
It is worth mentioning that it is not the first time that the Chivas' academy graduate has given the team the three points. Last season, against Monterrey, Zaldívar entered in the final part of the match to score the winning goal for the rojiblanco team.
ATLAS FAILED TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THEIR CHANCES
Diego Cocca's offense failed to take advantage of the two only opportunities they had to come out victorious in the match.
In the 60th minute, the rojinegros had the opportunity to open the score, however, Antonio Rodríguez managed to save Ignacio Malcorra's shot, which would have meant the first goal of the match.
Minutes before the end of the match and with an advantage in favor of Chivas, Brian Trejo hit the ball against the post of the rojiblanca goal, being alone in front of Antonio Rodríguez's goal, the Atlas player hit the ball against the left post.
MOTIVATION OF CHIVAS TO REACH THE REPECHAGE...
Víctor Manuel Vucetich's team stepped onto the Estadio Jalisco field aware that the victory against Atlas meant access to the Mexican football repechage, Chivas had already won two consecutive matches, therefore, one more against the rojinegros meant entering the repechage.
On the contrary, Atlas knew that this match determined their situation in the relegation zone, although they failed to take advantage of Atlético de San Luis' defeat against Cruz Azul.
