Sting is the First Inductee to the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2016
As announced a few hours ago, WWE revealed today the name of the first inductee to the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2016. Although Lemmy was the most mentioned name, "The Icon" Sting was the one who was honored.

Sting built his career in WCW, a company he was a part of until it went bankrupt in 2001. There, "The Icon" won a total of 9 world championships, feuding with established legends like Ric Flair and Hulk Hogan, with whom he had some of the most memorable matches in the now-defunct company.
After spending a long season in TNA, Sting was recognized as the greatest wrestler to ever step foot in WWE. However, that changed when he made an unexpected appearance at Survivor Series 2014, costing The Authority the victory in their match against Team Cena, which eventually led to a match against Triple H at WrestleMania 31, where DX and NWO clashed in a historic event. Finally, Sting challenged Seth Rollins for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship in September 2015, in a match where he suffered an unfortunate neck injury that has put a pause to his three-decade-long historic career.
With the announcement, "The Icon" took to social media to show his excitement for such recognition to his legendary career:
Well it's official – I have accepted the invitation to be inducted into the WWE HOF! HONORED!!!!

As tradition, the WWE Hall of Fame induction ceremony will take place the night before WrestleMania, this time on April 2, 2016, at the American Airlines Center and will likely be officiated by Jerry "The King" Lawler, as it has been for the past 6 years.
