Ecuadorian fulfills all the requirements such as buying an apartment, providing alimony, and completing a course on domestic violence
Renato Ibarra had his final hearing and was acquitted of the accusations of domestic violence made by his ex-partner, Lucely Chalá, as reported by lawyers from both parties to ESPN Digital.
"We only reported the reparation of the damage, he has fulfilled it, and the judge has already issued an acquittal sentence," said Lucely Chalá's lawyer, Renato Chávez, to ESPN Digital.
Renato Ibarra was only two classes away from completing the course on Domestic Violence to fulfill the requirements imposed by a judge from Reclusorio Oriente. Additionally, he had previously purchased an apartment for his ex-partner and has been punctual with the agreed-upon alimony payments for the past few months, allowing the soccer player to be cleared of all charges.
Ibarra was arrested in March of last year due to accusations of femicide and attempted abortion, but his lawyers managed to have those charges rejected and he only faced trial for domestic violence. The former América player - now with Atlas - reached an agreement with his ex-partner, which included the purchase of an apartment, alimony, and a course on Domestic Violence to be absolved of all charges.
"What was agreed upon was for his family; it was never intended as a business or anything like that, but rather to ensure the well-being of his children," commented a source consulted by this media outlet.
In today's hearing, Renato Ibarra presented himself after traveling from Guadalajara to Mexico City to demonstrate that he has fulfilled all the requirements imposed by the judge and to be cleared of all charges.
Initially, Ibarra had eight months to fulfill all the requirements, but due to the pandemic, the Ecuadorian's process was delayed.
