The coach of the Eagles defended the performance and starting position of the Mexican forward, who scored the decisive goal against Necaxa
The coach of América, Santiago Solari, praised the performance of Giovani Dos Santos, who became the hero of the team by scoring the goal that led to the victory against Necaxa, thus equaling the team's best record in short tournaments with seven home wins.
"He did it with his head and I don't remember him scoring goals with his head before and he did it well. He gave us the decisive goal. He has improved over time and has missed weeks due to an injury, but he strives to serve the team and he entered today because he deserved it," he said.
Solari praised Giovani's work and stated that the 31-year-old winger deserved to start and occupy the position left by the forward Sebastián Córdova for this match.
"He worked well and gained rhythm against Monterrey and today he had the chance to decide the game, as well as Viñas and Roger. That speaks well of his health and commitment, and I'm happy about his goal and Benedetti's participation, who returned for a while. We want to recover Henry, Córdova, and Leo Suárez. Hopefully, at some point in the year, everyone will be in good health because the squad deserves it," he said.

Similarly, he mentioned that he will focus on recovering Córdova and Henry Martín, who suffered injuries while playing for the U23 National Team and the Senior National Team, respectively.
"We are preparing for that and we want to recover players who have returned from international duty and have been absent. We have time for the next match. We are happy with this," he explained.

"There are many things to implement. Players who go with their national teams and focus on other tournaments, which is normal, but when they come back, of course, there are only a few days of training and Córdova couldn't be with us now, and Ochoa also made an effort, and all of that is not easy. We are not the only ones going through this. These are atypical weeks and it's not easy to focus and regain the rhythm after the break. That's why I value the attitude and work of the players," he concluded.
