Luka Modric has become a legend in the Croatian national team, as he broke the record for most appearances with his national team after reaching 135 played matches.

His teammates paid him a heartfelt tribute during the concentration, before facing Malta, with a video, a cake, and an endless applause that moved him to tears.

Modric made his debut with Croatia in 2006 and surpassed the record of former defender Darijo Srna of 134 international matches. In addition, the midfielder is the seventh top scorer of the Croatian national team with 16 goals scored.
