The Court of Appeal in Milan condemned Brazilian footballer Robson de Souza 'Robinho' to nine years in prison in December for raping a 23-year-old woman in 2013. The court considered that the player "brutally" humiliated the victim and deliberately misled the investigations, as revealed by the Italian newspaper "La Repubblica" on Tuesday.
The reasons that led the Court of Appeal in Milan to confirm the nine-year prison sentence for Robinho on December 10th for a group rape of a young woman in a nightclub include "disrespecting" the girl and "brutally humiliating" her.
In addition, the Court of Appeal considered that Robinho "tried from the beginning to divert the investigations by offering the authorities a false and previously agreed version" with the other accomplice, according to the source.
Robinho, former player of Real Madrid and Manchester City, among others, was playing for Milan that season and took part in the rape of an Albanian girl who was celebrating her 23rd birthday in a well-known venue in Milan.
Robinho denied the accusations in 2014, when the news broke that Italy was investigating him for these crimes.
In 2009, while playing in the English league, it was revealed that Robinho was being investigated by the police for an alleged rape in a nightclub in Leeds, but after being interrogated, he was released on bail.
The footballer denied those accusations. EFE
