Millonarios ensures defender Andrés Román never showed "warning signs" preventing him from playing professional soccer

"Both the player Andrés Felipe Román and all the team members have periodically undergone diagnostic exams conducted by specialists. In the specific case of Román, his results did not present any issues or warning signs for professional soccer practice," Millonarios expressed in a statement.

The Argentine press states that during routine medical check-ups, Román was found to have a cardiac anomaly, which is why he did not pass the tests of Boca Juniors.

For this reason, Millonarios will conduct "additional exams that specialists consider necessary" for the defender in the coming days.

The 22-year-old full-back was going to be the second reinforcement of the Argentine club in this transfer market, following the arrival of defender Marcos Rojo.

Boca Juniors coach Miguel Ángel Russo had made Román debut in May 2017 when he was the coach of Millonarios.

It was Russo who had requested Román's signing because right-back Julio Buffarini, who alternates the starting lineup with Leonardo Jara, will leave the club in the middle of this year as he did not renew his contract.

This month, the Colombian defender was called up for the first time to his country's national team for a microcycle in Barranquilla, where he was part of the team and was coached by Reinaldo Rueda. EFE
