Ramón Souza Duarte, former goalkeeper for Emelec in 1970 and 1971 and especially remembered in Ambato, in Técnico Universitario that led them to qualify for two Copa Libertadores, is playing the match of his life in his hometown Artigas, Uruguay, where he is currently hospitalized due to a cardiac arrest.
This information was confirmed by his son Ramón Souza Paz, who told EL UNIVERSO over the phone that his father suffered this health problem on Wednesday morning.
"This morning, between ten and eleven (Uruguay time), my dad had the arrest and we immediately called an ambulance. They managed to resuscitate him and stabilize his blood pressure," commented the ex-goalkeeper's son.
"My father is in an intensive care unit at a hospital (in Artigas) and he is in a coma. The doctors have said that we have to wait twelve hours to see how he reacts," Souza added. (D)
