The Portuguese media A Bola reported on Saturday that the Ecuadorian Gonzalo Plata had been relegated to Sporting de Lisboa's B team at the beginning of the week, after not having played in the last two matches.
The situation of the 20-year-old winger was described as a 'victim' of coach Rúben Amorim's demands by the Portuguese media.
In response to this, a source close to the player's environment, in conversation with EL UNIVERSO, commented that, indeed, Plata has been sent to Sporting's B team. However, the player has approached this decision professionally and has attended training sessions regularly.
"It is not true," indicates the source, that Plata has shown signs of indiscipline as a result of this order from Amorim.
