Mexico City -

The Peruvian coach Juan Reynoso does not rule out the permanence of Ecuadorian forward Bryan "Cuco" Angulo in Cruz Azul

"Angulo is training with us, we are getting him in shape because he had a month and a half of vacation. This week we saw him perform better and if the offers that exist for him are not of interest to the club, he will surely stay," explained Reynoso in a press conference.

The 51-year-old coach admitted that the player has options to stay with them in the Clausura tournament. The striker is coveted by Emelec, the club where he made his professional debut in 2014, which hopes to have him for tonight's Azul Explosion, but it was later reported that the deadline was set for Sunday, January 31st, to reach an agreement for the Guayaquil player.

"Angulo has potential and is much better than the forward reinforcements we have seen so far. If we don't find something better, he will stay," he said.

Angulo joined Cruz Azul for the Apertura 2019 but in the ten games he played, he did not score. After that campaign, he was loaned to Tijuana for two tournaments, in which he played 27 matches, scored seven goals, and provided one assist.

The Ecuadorian is one of the alternatives that Cruz Azul has to overcome its shortage of forwards. Alongside the Ecuadorian, Reynoso has the Mexican Santiago Giménez and the Uruguayan Jonathan Rodríguez, who is being punished for violating COVID-19 isolation.

Reynoso hopes to strengthen the squad in two positions before the transfer market closes. The Argentines Guillermo Pol Fernández and Walter Montoya are still unable to play because they have pending immigration procedures.

The former Puebla coach said that his compatriot Yoshimar Yotún is not yet at 100% physically, so he does not guarantee his starting position in the fourth match, this Saturday against Querétaro.

"Yoshimar is getting fit physically. In the last match (against Pachuca) we planned that he would help us with possession in the second half, and he did well despite the fact that he came in as a mixed midfielder and then I took him out as a wing-back," he concluded. (D)
