Some changes are presented in the latest update of the UFC bantamweight division rankings compared to the one published in December 2020 when Ecuadorian Marlon Vera's last participation was recorded. Chito (16-7-1 MMA, 10-6 UFC), who was defeated by Brazilian José Aldo at UFC Vegas 17 event, does not appear in the top 15.
Despite his unanimous decision loss to Aldo (with scores of 29-28, 29-28, and 29-28) on December 19, Chito Vera retained his place in the main rankings, ranking fifteenth.
However, after the first events of 2021, the rankings of the divisions were updated, and in the bantamweight division, American Casey Kenney became the new fifteenth, displacing Vera to positions of little relevance within the company.
The last opponent of the Ecuadorian, Brazilian Aldo, went from being seventh in December to sixth this month. And the penultimate opponent who also defeated him by unanimous decision, Chinese Song Yadong, is in the fourteenth place.
