Rodrigo Aguirre goes to Necaxa and Marcos Caicedo goes to Guayaquil City to 'improve the economic health' of Liga de Quito.

Esteban Paz, Liga's executive, spoke about the loan of the players.

Esteban Paz, Liga's executive, spoke about the loan of the players.

The departures of forward Rodrigo Aguirre and left winger Marcos Caicedo on loan will be a relief for Liga de Quito's economy, which expects to reduce its budget to $14 million for this season, $6 million less than what financed the institution in 2020.

To achieve its goal, the main strategies are to reach an agreement with its players to reduce their salaries and loan them to other clubs.

"We are thinking about the economic health, that doesn't mean that we won't reinforce the team, we are waiting to close negotiations with Marcos Caicedo and Rodrigo Aguirre, who are expensive players," said Esteban Paz, president of Liga's Football Commission to the capital radio station Área Deportiva.

"We have loaned Marcos Caicedo, we will continue to pay a part of his salary, the idea is for him to play at Guayaquil City," Paz said.

The blue and white team will arrive to recover the level it showed at Barcelona SC in the second half of 2016 and 2017. In its time at Liga, he only played 90 minutes in one match out of the 32 games the team faced.

About the Uruguayan issue, Paz revealed: "Very few teams are paying for loans, we know we made the best decision with Aguirre by loaning him to Necaxa in Mexico, there will surely be an economic return, we project the possibility that the purchase option can be fixed and recover the investment (...). If Aguirre had not wanted to continue at Liga, he simply would not have renewed his contract."

In the case of attacking midfielder Andrés Chicaiza, who has had an inconsistent performance in the white squad, the executive stated: "We have to talk and find the best solution for both parties." (D)
