Quito -
At the edge of relegation, the board of El Nacional seeks a change of course and would bet on the arrival of Argentine Marcelo Zuleta
to lead the last four matches in LigaPro. The Argentine would replace Édison Méndez, who has only managed two games.
Zuleta would be the fifth coach for the nationals this season, reflecting the football situation that places El Nacional in second-to-last place in the overall table.
After a regular performance in the previous season, in which the nationals qualified for the Copa Sudamericana, Marcelo Zuleta was not ratified for 2020 by the board led by Lucía Vallecilla, who would now use him as a lifeline for the final stretch of the tournament.

Zuleta is the replacement on the bench for Méndez, who held the position for three weeks, but only managed two games, with one loss and one win.
The club lost a second game during the tenure of Kinito; however, it was a game lost on paper due to the club being suspended for unresolved debts with players.
After his stint in 2019 with the national club, Zuleta (56 years old) arrived at the helm of Liga de Portoviejo in November, a club that is fighting against relegation alongside the nationals.
The Argentine coached three games for Capira, won one and lost two, and then agreed to leave, with the Manabí team already doomed to relegation.
The national club has not officially announced the hiring of Zuleta. Official club channels invite fans to wait for "official information."
"We cannot release any information or opinion without the indication of the board. Our responsibility is institutional," said Luis Paredes, in charge of the communication area of the institution.
With the confirmation of his signing, Zuleta will work against the clock to prepare the team that will take the field this Wednesday at the Atahualpa Stadium to face Aucas.
Next, they will face a schedule with matches against Emelec, Macará, and will close the season against Orense, a match that could determine the future of the nationals for 2021. (D)
