The Coach of Nice Patrick Vieira Dismissed
The coach of Nice Patrick Vieira has been questioned after five consecutive defeats in all competitions. The French Ligue 1 club announced on Friday that they entrusted the team to its former assistant, Romanian Adrian Ursea.
"Arrived at Nice in the summer of 2018, Patrick Vieira ceases to be the coach of Nice from today", wrote the club in a statement. On Thursday, Nice was defeated 3-2 at home by Bayer Leverkusen and is mathematically eliminated from the Europa League.
In the French championship, the club from the Mediterranean coast occupies the 11th position, far from the ambitions shown by the new owner, the petrochemical group Ineos.
With the former Arsenal and Bleus midfielder in charge, Nice finished seventh and fifth in its first two seasons.
Vieira had his first coaching experience at New York City FC.
Ursea, 53 years old and with a discreet coaching career, will temporarily take charge of the team, although the club has not specified if they are looking for another coach. Their first match will be on Sunday against Reims. AFP
