On the night of this Tuesday, the Colombian Football Federation announced the separation of Portuguese coach Carlos Queiroz after the heavy defeats he suffered in November in matchdays 3 and 4 of the South American Qualifiers against Uruguay (0-3) and Ecuador (6-1).
Queiroz took over as coach of the national team in February 2019 after the departure of José Pékerman, who led them to two World Cups (2014 and 2018).
"We have neither pride nor honor," said Queiroz in the press conference following the defeat in Quito.

Colombia was eliminated in the quarterfinals of the 2019 Copa America in Chile, the first official competition led by the Portuguese, and after four rounds of the qualification for the 2022 World Cup, the team is currently in seventh place, far from the four direct qualification spots offered by the competition.

"The contribution that he leaves us will serve to continue the development of the projects that are being carried out with all the national teams of our country... As of today, the Executive Committee of the Colombian Football Federation will begin the process of searching for the coach who will occupy, in the immediate future, the position of head coach of the Men's National Team of Colombia," says a statement.
