Carlos Alfaro Moreno, president of Barcelona SC, rejected the attitude of Barcelona fans who approached the Monumental stadium to confront the players after the goalless draw against Orense in Machala. This result caused the canaries to lose the top spot in the championship on goal difference. According to the manager, what happened on Monday "was unheard of and worse during a pandemic" and also "that is not love for the club."
The head of the team also referred to the level of football shown by the team, with which "we are not satisfied," but "we are fighting."
"I call on the authorities to enforce security measures in all stadiums. We reject personally and institutionally what happened yesterday," said Alfaro Moreno during an interview with Caravana radio.
"The Barcelona fan should always be understood, we should not respond to them when they disagree and please them. And I'm talking about the good fans, not those who went last night to make our situation difficult. We are all Barcelona fans or we are not. What happened yesterday was unheard of and worse during a pandemic. That is not love for the club," he added.
Alfaro Moreno disagreed with the players facing the fans without wearing masks. "I don't think any player should have gotten off the bus, let alone without a mask. That's a matter we'll discuss internally," he pondered.
In the football field, the executive assured that he "would like Barcelona to play better," but that he believes in the work of the coaching staff led by Fabián Bustos.
"Bustos has a contract with the club. We believe in the work of our coaching staff. We believe in a project. I know the taste of the fans, I think we can play better. With work and time, we can achieve it," he asserted. (D)
