The Pan American Judo Championship
The Pan American Judo Championship continues to bring achievements to Peru. Our compatriot Noemí Huayhuameza won the gold medal as the best in the -48 kg division. In her first fight, she defeated Giovanna Prado from the United States with an ippon, and in the gold medal match, she defeated Aracely Barrionuevo from Ecuador also with an ippon.
Huayhuameza is currently ranked 9th in the world in this division and category, and last year she competed in the Cadet category, winning the silver medal.
On the other hand, the Peruvian Javier Saavedra returned to the tatami after having been crowned a Pan American champion in the Cadet category a few days ago, and he won the silver medal by losing to Alexis Harrizon from Panama.
It is worth mentioning that our compatriot Francis Godos also won a silver medal after defeating Mexican Jessica Gallegos and losing to Puerto Rican Sairy Colón in the -70 kg category.
