Rayados de Monterrey won the Copa MX by defeating Xolos and a congratulations came from Europe for Miguel Layún, who did not play a minute in the final match

After Monterrey won the Copa MX 2019-2020 on Wednesday, Porto sent congratulations to Miguel Layún, a defender for Rayados who previously played for the Portuguese team. Via a message from their Twitter account, Porto congratulated the full-back.

"Congratulations on the Copa," they wrote in Portuguese on Porto's official Twitter account alongside a photo of Layún holding the trophy with the caption "3 out of 3," referring to the fact that the team from Monterrey are champions of Liga MX, Copa MX, and Concacaf Champions League.

Furthermore, on his Instagram account, Layún expressed more about how he feels winning this trophy with Rayados.

"Whether you like it or not, current conqueror of Conca, Liga MX, and now also the Copa MX. Thanks to all who accompany me on this journey...," wrote the full-back on his social media.

"Sometimes life puts us in the right places when we least expect it, challenges us, and teaches us so many things, that all I can do is wait for what's to come and continue living each moment to the fullest. Thank you Rayados. Three titles in 2 years, thanks to a group that works hard and even when things don't seem to be at their best, finds a way to overcome everything," Layún added in his message.

Immediately, hundreds of followers applauded his message and effort to conquer a new title.

Additionally, on Wednesday night, Tigres, Rayados' arch-rival, also congratulated them for winning the Copa MX.

"Cheers to that Copa MX," Tigres wrote from their official Twitter account, along with an image that featured the Rayados logo and the caption "Copa MX Champion 2020," the felines wrote on their account.
