Real Madrid takes advantage over Huesca with goals from Hazard and Benzema
Belgian forward Eden Hazard scored a great left foot strike from outside the box in the 39th minute, while French striker Karim Benzema scored with his left foot in the 45th minute, giving Real Madrid a 2-0 lead at halftime against Huesca. Huesca had more opportunities at the beginning of the match but failed to convert.
Michel's team, always looking to build up play from the back, had more chances to score by exploiting the space behind Real Madrid's defense. Spanish forwards Rafa Mir had two good opportunities, and a goal was disallowed for offside in the 19th minute. Sergio Gómez also troubled Belgian goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois in the 27th minute.
But Huesca's momentum faded and Real Madrid took control of the ball, although they lacked depth until a moment of brilliance from Hazard made the difference. He received the ball with his back to the goal in midfield, turned and struck a great left-footed shot into the bottom right corner, leaving goalkeeper Andrés Fernández with no chance. This was Hazard's first goal in 392 days. Benzema scored the second goal just before halftime, making it 2-0. EFE
