Anthony Joshua will wait for an important fight.

Anthony Joshua Will Wait 12-18 Months for a Big Fight

The English boxer Anthony Joshua (15-0, 15 KO) said he will wait 12-18 months to face someone like David Haye (26-2, 24 KO), Deontay Wilder (35-0, 34 KO) or Tyson Fury (25-0, 18 KO). He made this known in an interview with Sky Sports.

"I would like to continue preparing for at least 18 months since time is a virtue. Experience is the key for me right now, so for the next 12 months, I'll be preparing. If an opportunity comes, we'll take it, but I'm sure we'll continue with the preparation for 12 or 18 months."

"I will take my time, analyze the timing well, stay alert in the division. I am a work in progress and once I mature well, we will see all the heavyweight fighters running scared because I will come with a lot of strength."

Lately there has been talk of a possible Joshua vs. Chisora fight, but the boxer himself said he is not interested in fighting him at the moment. He has nothing against him, but he has other plans in mind. He wants to currently hold the European Boxing Union (EBU) title, which is a regional title.

"There is nothing wrong with fighting Derek Chisora, but I don't think that's the path we will choose. I will continue on the European route and if I have to defend all the British titles, we will do it against Chisora because we want to fight British boxers." There are several options on the table, but first I would like to take the European route and aim for that regional title before reaching the world level."

Joshua recently defeated Dillian Whyte by technical knockout in the seventh round on December 12.

On the other hand, Chisora recently defeated Jakov Gospic by technical knockout in the third round. This fight was part of the Joshua vs. Whyte card.

A fight between Joshua and Chisora would be very good. Joshua's decision to wait longer to face higher level opponents was very good because often young fighters face experienced people and their careers are lost very early.
