Barcelona fans in Shenzhen celebrate Bartomeu's resignation

A Barcelona supporters' club in the Chinese city of Shenzhen, in the southeast, organized a dinner celebration following the announcement of the resignation by the former president of the club, Josep Maria Bartomeu, as reported by the local press.

According to the sports portal Dongqiudi, this group of Chinese Culés fans organized a "special party" to commemorate the departure of the executive.

The club's social media account on Weibo -the Chinese Twitter- shared photos of the gathering, which took place in a private room at a restaurant where they hung a humorous banner that reads: "Celebrating Bartomeu's dismissal".

"The Barcelona supporters' club in Shenzhen is the best, we have organized a ceremony to celebrate it!" boasted a member of the fan club on that portal.

Others choose sarcasm about Bartomeu's turbulent end as the president of Barcelona, with comments such as "Real Madrid fans are organizing a welcome ceremony for Bartomeu, who has completed his mission as an infiltrator and is returning to Madrid".

Barcelona is one of the most beloved teams in China and, according to Bartomeu's own words quoted by the local press last year, there are up to 47 million Culés fans in the Asian giant, which represents 16 percent of the total mass of followers of the team worldwide. EFE
