Molina proposes to Mallorca player Romero to play with the Spanish national team
José Francisco Molina, sports director of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), has met with the young RCD Mallorca academy player Luka Romero, who will turn 16 next November, to propose that he play in the national team's youth categories.
The meeting between Molina and Luka Romero, born in Durango (Mexico) to Argentine parents, took place this Tuesday in a restaurant in Palma and was captured by the cameras of IB3 Television.
The youngest footballer to debut in La Liga
The Mallorca's youth football gem made history last season in the Spanish League by becoming the youngest footballer to debut in La Liga at 15 years and 229 days old, surpassing a record set 81 years ago by Celta player Francisco Bao 'Sansón' (15 years and 255 days old).
An international with the Argentine U-15 national team, he was one of the standout players of the albiceleste in the past South American championship in that category. Luka has stated that his "dream" is to "wear the national team shirt" of his family's country of origin, despite also receiving proposals from Mexico and now from Spain.
García Plaza: "Luka Romero has won me over"
Vicente Moreno, the coach who gave him the opportunity to debut in La Liga - against Real Madrid at the Alfredo Di Stéfano stadium - now coaches Espanyol.
