Changes in the Paraguayan Championship Format
Due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic that continues to impact the world, the traditional format of the Paraguayan championship will have to be altered.
The format for the Clausura 2020 tournament, which will start on Friday, October 16th, includes an initial phase of a round-robin, where the top 8 teams will qualify for the playoffs.
Subsequently, the quarterfinals will be played as a single match, and in case of a tie, penalty shootouts will determine the winner, just like in the semifinals and final.
The Clausura will begin next week and conclude on December 30th.
The first round matches are as follows:
Olimpia vs. Nacional
General Díaz vs. San Lorenzo
River Plate vs. 12 de Octubre
Cerro Porteño vs. Sportivo Luqueño
Sol de América vs. Guaraní
Guaireña vs. Libertad
