Paraguayan forward Cecilio Domínguez involved in controversy
Paraguayan forward Cecilio Domínguez got involved in a major controversy due to statements made during an interview where he harshly criticized Independiente's management and treatment.
"I'm much better off than in Argentina. I believe that anywhere is better than being in the situation I experienced at Independiente. In terms of management, it's lamentable to be there. I never had any dealings with the executives. Everyone talked about the most expensive signing, but they wouldn't fulfill it and failed to keep their word," said Domínguez.
Ricardo Bochini, legendary player for the Rojo, spoke with Fútbol a lo Grande and gave his opinion with some caution regarding the Paraguayan's statements.
"He shouldn't have said that. Independiente spent a lot on players that didn't perform. He didn't perform, he didn't make a difference, especially considering the amount that was paid for him," expressed Bochini on 1080 AM.
After his time at Independiente, Domínguez first signed with Austin in the MLS and then joined Guaraní on loan. The striker made his debut last Thursday for the Legendario in the Copa Libertadores match against Tigre, where he scored a goal from the penalty spot.
