The goalkeeper, Sebastián Viera, scored in the 7th minute, and the top scorer Miguel Borja scored in the 70th minute to secure the Colombian victory. Paraguayan forward Cristian Colmán scored for Barcelona in the 28th minute.

Viera took advantage of a free kick at the edge of the box and brilliantly deceived everyone with a shot under the wall.

Spanish statistician MisterChip detailed that, with the goal scored at the Monumental Isidro Romero Carbo Stadium in Guayaquil, Sebastián Viera "equalled the Brazilian Rogério Ceni as the only goalkeepers to have scored directly from a free kick in the Copa Libertadores and the Copa Sudamericana (Viera scored in the Sudamericana in 2016 against Lara)".
