Note about Fabián Balbuena's performance in the English League Cup
Paraguayan Fabián Balbuena was the starting center-back and captain of West Ham in the 32nd round of the English League Cup, where they eliminated Charlton with an impressive score of 3-0.
The goals for Balbuena's team were scored by Frenchman Sébastien Haller in the 22nd and 26th minutes of the first half, and by Brazilian Felipe Anderson in the 80th minute of the second half.
Fabián Balbuena played the full 90 minutes and had an excellent performance, restoring confidence to his coach David Moyes and showing that he can be used in Premier League matches, where he didn't play in the first matchday.
Balbuena became the second Paraguayan to wear the captain's armband in an English team, following in the footsteps of Antolín Alcaraz who did it at Wigan.
