The Chivas forward talks about the missed penalty by José Juan Macías and the resulting criticism
GUADALAJARA -- Oribe Peralta, forward for Chivas, said that the worst thing that can happen to the Guadalajara native after the missed penalty against Querétaro is to dwell on the mistake and no longer want to take penalties.
The experienced striker believes that in football, everyone makes mistakes and even the best players in the world have missed penalties. He thinks that Macías needs to correct his errors and improve.
"The worst mistake is not correcting those errors, not improving them, or getting stuck in the 'f*** it, I can't do it' and fall into a hole where you say 'I won't take penalties because I could fail'. Everyone makes mistakes and anyone can miss a penalty, it has happened to the best players in the world, so I think that's the path and José Juan (Macías) knows it very well," he stated.
In light of the mistakes the Chivas forward has made in matches against Tigres and Querétaro, Oribe Peralta pointed out that it is easy for people to criticize and judge a football player from behind a television or computer screen, without considering that mistakes are part of the process for a player to become a better professional.
"Behind a television, behind a computer, everything looks very easy. Many of those who criticize, judge, could come and practice a bit and try to do what many of us do, so they can see how many times they don't make mistakes or how many times we make mistakes. Making mistakes is a process to become a much better professional," he said.
In the end, he stated that he sees José Juan Macías ready to play in Europe, as his commitment and discipline would not be a problem on the old continent. However, he emphasized that if his dream is not fulfilled soon, he will have to continue proving his quality at Chivas.
"I have talked to him about the subject, and I believe he is ready to play. The only way to know is for him to go and try. With how disciplined he is, how committed he is, I don't think he will have any problem. What I have talked to him about is that, even if his dream of playing there is not fulfilled immediately, he has to do everything possible to work here because in the end, that will make him make the leap there," he concluded.
