America hid from Liga MX that Andrés Ibarguen tested positive for COVID-19 and the player will not be considered for the upcoming games
The South American midfielder, Andrés Ibarguen, has not been considered because he tested positive for Covid-19 a few days ago, but Club America did not inform the Liga MX about this result.
The Azulcrema coach, Miguel Herrera, acknowledged that Ibargüen has not tested negative for Coronavirus and has not been considered. This situation surprised the media in the press conference, as no statement was released last week.
"Last week he tested positive. On Saturday we took the last test and it was positive," Herrera explained.
Clubs are required to report positive results of their sick players, but Club America did not report this case to Liga MX, so the Mexican soccer authorities only announced negative cases.
It was not until Friday afternoon that Club America communicated the positive result to Liga MX, which then shared the player's situation with the media.
The statement mentions that "player Andrés Ibarguen tested positive for Covid-19 in a test conducted on August 26. The player, who is recovering from an injury, has been put under medical supervision because he had contact last week with an infected person."
They also stated that the Colombian midfielder is "asymptomatic and under the medical supervision of specialists."
