Universitario came out of the slump from the previous match and showed a more solid game against Universidad San Martín, whom they defeated 2-0 at the Alberto Gallardo stadium.
Around the 50th minute, referee Miguel Santiváñez called a penalty for a foul on Alberto Quintero and Alejandro Hohberg took charge of executing it and scoring the 1-0 goal, at the 52nd minute.
Just three minutes later, Iván Santillán increased the lead with a powerful shot from the left side that went in through the first post of Diego Penny. With the 2-0 advantage, Universitario controlled the game calmly.
