The Chilean international defender Mauricio Isla will reinforce Flamengo, replacing the full-back Rafinha, who left the carioca club to play in Europe with Greek Olympiakos.
According to reports in the Brazilian press, all the details have already been defined, including salary and bonuses, but the contract has not yet been signed.
Although the current Brazilian champion and Copa Libertadores winner has not officially announced his signing, several publications by the player on Instagram indicate that it is a done deal as he is seen wearing the "mengao" jersey and making reference to the most popular club in Brazil.
"Vamos Flamengo," wrote the Chilean defender in one of his posts, who is currently undergoing specific training in La Nucia, Alicante, Spain.
The 32-year-old player left Fenerbahce in June and was listening to offers from several clubs around the world, such as Argentine Boca Juniors, Spanish Real Betis, and English Leeds, recently promoted to the Premier League, and led by Argentine Marcelo Bielsa.
The two-time America's champion was developed in the lower ranks of Universidad Catolica, also played for Italian clubs Udinese, Juventus, and Cagliari, English Queens Park Rangers, Olympique de Marseille, and Fenerbahce, where he has spent the last three seasons.
Since his first call-up in 2007, Isla has played 115 times for the Chilean national team, with whom he played the Copa America in Brazil last year. EFE
