One of the most beloved footballers by the fans of the Peruvian national team, gave details of the opportunity that could have taken him from Mexico to European football to play in the Spanish League.

"I had the opportunity to play in Spain and Greece, unfortunately the owners of Tecos, where I played, did not want to sell me because they were happy with me, although at the same time they prevented me from having that possibility," said El Chorri on Movistar Deportes.

"The offer came from Deportivo La Coruña. When Sebastián Abreu arrived, the trade was going to be made between him and me, but unfortunately everything fell through and I had to stay in Mexico for two more seasons," added the 47-year-old former footballer.

Roberto Palacios missed the opportunity to play in Europe. He spent most of his career in Mexico. In Mexican football, El Chorrillano wore the shirts of Puebla, Tecos de la UAG, Monarcas Morelia, and Atlas. He also played for Sporting Cristal, Cruzeiro, Deportivo Cali, and Liga de Quito.
