Zenit won the Russian Cup and during the celebration, they broke the trophy.

Zenit won the Russia Cup by defeating Khimki 1-0 in Ekaterinburg.

Zenit won the Russia Cup by defeating Khimki 1-0 in Ekaterinburg.

A penalty converted by Artem Dzyuba five minutes from the end gave Zenit St. Petersburg a 1-0 victory over Khimki, securing their fourth Russian Cup title to add to their recently won league title.

Sergei Semak's Zenit regained dominance in a competition that had eluded them since 2016, when they last won a trophy.

The St. Petersburg team had difficulties in the match played at the Ekaterinburg Arena against an opponent seeking their first title.

Khimki, who had only played in one cup final in 2005 when they lost to CSKA Moscow, held their ground until the end. It wasn't until a foul inside the box by Evgenij Gapon on Brazilian Malcom that the penalty was awarded and converted by Dzyuba, securing victory for Zenit.

The celebration of Zenit is making headlines around the world, as one of the players dropped the trophy and it broke. However, this did not dampen the celebration of the St. Petersburg team at the Central Stadium of Ekaterinburg.
