Calleja completes 100 games in La Liga with Villarreal CF, the club's third
The coach of Villarreal CF, Javier Calleja, completed this Monday against Real Sociedad one hundred matches in La Liga on the bench of his club, which makes him the third centenary coach in the history of the team.
Calleja is in third position behind Chilean Manuel Pellegrini (190 matches) and Marcelino García Toral (114) and ahead of Víctor Muñoz (77).
The Madrid-born coach has a record of 43 wins, 22 draws, and 35 losses in 100 matches in La Liga with Villarreal, and if all the matches played by the team under his command are counted, the numbers add up to 129 (56 wins, 30 draws, and 43 losses).
In September 2017, he joined the first team from the reserve team after the dismissal of Fran Escribá. He was also dismissed in December 2018 to make way for Luis García Plaza, but the club re-signed him in January 2019 and has been with the club ever since.
