About the Return of Liga 1

A few days ago, Ricardo Gareca made it clear that he is concerned about the resumption of Liga 1 and stated that, in his opinion, it is necessary to resume as soon as sanitary conditions are met.

In this regard, Néstor Bonillo, physical trainer of the Peruvian National Team, also commented on the return of the Peruvian championship and considered that there could be a couple of modifications regarding training and competition times.

"There is a process of competitive adaptation. That's why we are requesting more recovery time for players during matches, in order to avoid injuries," said Bonillo to Movistar Deportes.

This is in reference to the estimation made by Agustín Lozano, President of the Peruvian Football Federation, who has stated that training is expected to start in mid-June and that the championship will return at the end of July or the first week of August.

He also commented on the current situation of national team players who are currently inactive and are about to leave their clubs, such as Christian Cueva and Renato Tapia.

"I had a conversation with Christian (Cueva). He is hopeful of being able to resolve this situation. Fortunately, he has possibilities to continue his career in good clubs. The same goes for Renato (Tapia), who has very good alternatives," added Bonillo.

As you may recall, Christian Cueva and Renato Tapia will become free agents after ending their contracts with Pachuca from Mexico and Feyenoord from the Netherlands, respectively.
