The death of African-American citizen George Floyd at the hands of a police officer has caused commotion worldwide, and one of the legendary athletes to speak out about it has been former basketball player Michael Jordan.
The NBA legend, a mythical figure from the Chicago Bulls, showed his sympathy and publicly declared that the fight against racism, which is present at all times, must continue.
"I am deeply saddened, really pained, and plain angry. I see and feel everyone's pain, outrage, and frustration. I stand with those who are calling out the deep-rooted racism and violence toward people of color in our country. Enough is enough," Jordan said.
However, his support went beyond words. Through the organization "Jordan Brand", it was confirmed that the legendary basketball player will donate 100 million dollars over the next 10 years.
This significant sum of money will be destined for "organizations dedicated to ensuring racial equality, social justice, and greater access to education," the statement detailed.
"Jordan Brand is more than a man, it has always been a family. We represent a proud family that has overcome obstacles, fighting against discrimination in communities around the world, and working every day to eliminate the stain of racism and the damage of injustice," the publication reads.
