Lyon exercises the buy option on Ekambi who was on loan from Villarreal
The Olympique de Lyon has confirmed on Tuesday that they have exercised the buy option on Cameroonian striker Toko Ekambi, who was playing for the French club on loan from Villarreal since the last winter transfer market.
The African attacker will join Olympique de Lyon in exchange for 11.5 million euros, plus another 4 million for different incentives.
The French team was obliged to acquire Ekambi's services in the case of obtaining European qualification but, despite the fact that the French league will not be resumed, Lyon has decided to sign the player under the agreed conditions.
Ekambi arrived at Villarreal two seasons ago from Angers, in a transfer valued at 18 million euros. After signing a good first season, his prominence declined in the second, so he was loaned in the winter transfer market, in which Villarreal signed Paco Alcácer.
