After the disappearance of the Ascenso MX, many voices have joined the criticism against the owners and officials of Mexican football, but others, like Gabriel Achilier, seek to be part of a solution so that the sports aspect and the players' jobs are not affected.
"When one is active, it is the time to assert their rights because in the end we are professionals, we are footballers and we deserve that respect and to be treated as it should be. There are players who are losing their jobs, they are owed money, they are not being paid, and many things are happening that are truly affecting this profession," Achilier said to ESPN.
"It cannot be that a league like the Ascenso disappears, where there are such good players who are there to aspire to something, to aspire to change and improve their lifestyle, so these are things that should not be left like this. Therefore, I join that and fully support reviewing this situation and that we can have the Liga de Ascenso as it should be, that our voice and our requests are heard because we also want to help and be part of the solution, not the problem, because if this is not resolved, a very big problem is coming, even bigger than what we are experiencing," he added.
On the other hand, Achilier imagines an emotional return to football as soon as health authorities and the Liga MX decide to resume professional activities in the Clausura 2020, although with certain restrictions on physical contact.
"That will be a topic to discuss, it is difficult because you have a good relationship with someone and you hug them, you want to talk at any time, so I think it will be a bit difficult because there will be some who will retract or things like that, but in my case, if I have the opportunity, I would hug everyone with great enthusiasm, I would live that moment because it will be all new, beyond the fact that we already know each other with most of the players, it will be like starting something new," Achilier commented.
