Cienciano went down and that has saddened Cusco and many parts of the country. Even more so for former players of the red team who regret the relegation of 'Papá'. Depor contacted former members of the Cusco team, who assured that the club did not deserve to be in this situation.

César Ccahuantico, Germán Carty, Carlos Lugo and Julio García were saddened by Cienciano's descent and also remembered some of the great moments they experienced in the 'imperial' club. The three were part of the squad that won the Copa Sudamericana in 2001.

"As a person from Cusco, it hurts my soul what is happening to the team. It is sad that the club was not managed in the best way, but that's football. The guys gave it their all and did not deserve to be in this situation," said defender César Ccahuantico, who played for 'Papá' for eight seasons.

Paraguayan Carlos Lugo also added that he is very frustrated with the present of the 'red' club. And he assured that there he lived the most pleasant moments of his career. "I will never forget everything I went through with the club, I carry Cienciano in my heart because it marked me forever. It makes me sad to see the present of the club, and it frustrates me because it does not deserve to be in this situation, unfortunately I can no longer help," commented Lugo.

Similarly, midfielder Julio García assured that Cienciano will recover from the bad moment it is going through, and in the coming seasons it will come back stronger. "It is regrettable how some clubs in our league are managed, and these are the consequences. I hope that Cienciano recovers and in the following years achieves improvement from what it has already achieved, I carry the team and the city in my heart," he added.

Germán Carty, the former team's top scorer, also referred to the squad with moving words. "I just have to thank Cienciano for everything I went through there. It is a great club and I hope that the directors know how to improve this situation. There is nothing to complain about the players, what they gave for the team is too much," he concluded.

THE FACT: Cienciano will leave Real Garcilaso as the only team from Cusco in the First Division.
