Cienciano, the Peruvian team with the most international achievements, was relegated this Sunday and will play in the Second Division in 2016 after a poor campaign, marked not only by the poor sporting campaign, but also by a series of off-field problems.

1. Economic problems:

Cienciano accumulated a debt of two million soles to the SUNAT and this led to the entry of temporary administration since 2012. The years passed and the economic problems of 'Papá' worsened. And this year it was felt more due to the continuous changes in leadership.

2. An irregular campaign:

The Cusco team finished eleventh in the Apertura Tournament with 19 points. Until then, nobody foresaw a sad ending to the year for Cienciano. But everything changed in the Clausura where they finished last with 14 points. Numbers that contrasted with the regular performance they had in the Torneo del Inca.

3. Loss of points:

To this, add the deduction of points due to economic problems: a total of 6. This complicated Cienciano towards the end of the season. And they couldn't recover despite the arrival of reinforcements for the Clausura Tournament.

4. Change of coaches:

Jorge Espejo started the year as the coach of Cienciano, but stepped down in early October due to economic problems. He was replaced by Italian Orlando Maltese, who lasted only a month. And then Paúl Cominges took over, who couldn't avoid relegation.
