The Mexican Football League is not affiliated with the Mexican Football Federation, but it is now seen as a source of employment for many players who could be left without a team due to the changes implemented by the Mexican Football Federation in the Ascenso MX.

In light of the transformation of the so-called Silver Division and the fact that there will be no clubs promoted or relegated from the Liga MX for the next six seasons, the Mexican Association of Professional Footballers (AMFPro) is opening its doors to the emerging Mexican Football League.

"We have been in contact with other people who have told us about this new league, but we do not yet have official communication. What we have told them is that, at the end of the day, it is an alternative if it provides employment opportunities for workers, in this case, the players. We currently have three teams of players without contracts that we help to find placements in the Ascenso, Primera, and Segunda divisions. These players also train from Monday to Friday to stay physically fit and earn money to support their families," said Álvaro Ortiz, president of AMF Pro, in an interview with ESPN.

"Undoubtedly, we applaud this part, and if they approach us, even though legally we have nothing to do with a league like the Balompié, if they come to us to contribute and help the players, we will do everything possible to support our colleagues," Ortiz said.

Ortiz estimates that hundreds of players will be left without employment starting this summer due to decisions that include ending the 2019-2020 Ascenso MX season without determining a champion, temporarily suspending promotion and relegation for the next six seasons, and eliminating the Youth Rule in the Liga MX starting from the 2020-2021 season.

"With the age restriction, which they said could be a U-23 league, you leave over 200 players out, and what will happen to the First Division players who are over 23 years old and are not part of the clubs' plans? Where will they go? As Javier Aguirre said the other day, 'not everyone fits in the First Division'," questioned Ortiz.

"Unfortunately, it seems to me that an appropriate decision is not being made for our football. We are not sending the right message, and today, in general, it seems that there is no unity in Mexican football. In other words, even the executives do not agree with each other, they are fighting among themselves, and sometimes it seems that the players should make a stand, along with the media. I believe that today we are sending a very ambiguous message to our society, and we will do our part to seek the best solution," he concluded.
