Italian former player Francesco Totti stated that at the beginning of his career he had an offer to join the youth team of Lazio, before ultimately choosing Roma, for which he became an eternal legend.
"There was a moment when I was playing for Lodigiani (a Roman soccer school). I was eight years old, about to turn nine in September. At the end of the season, the team's president, Sagramola, called my mother, my father, and my brother explaining that there were two options: Roma or Lazio," Totti said late on Thursday in an Instagram live.
"My brother started threatening my parents so they didn't dare say 'Lazio'. My mother wasn't a Lazio fan, but my grandfather was. My father and my brother were Roma fans. My uncles were Lazio fans," he added.
Obviously, Totti chose to join Roma's youth team and started a legendary career, with 25 seasons played as a professional wearing the "giallorossa" shirt.
"My mother knew which team I was a fan of and couldn't go against my will. In the end, we chose Roma, they knew my stance," said Totti, who played 786 matches and scored 307 goals as a Roman player, winning a league title (2001), two Italian Cups (2007 and 2008), and two Italian Super Cups (2001 and 2007).
