"#JerseysAtHome" Auction
"It's a way to bring the club colors home due to the lack of sports events," said Ariel González, organizer of the "#JerseysAtHome" auction, which will take place from May 1st to June 6th.
A total of 120 pieces will be auctioned, and the novelty of this auction is that all the lots consist of jerseys worn by players.
In previous auctions organized since 2017 by Futbolasta Auctions, based in Miami Beach, Florida (USA), medals, trophies, pennants, balls, and boots were for sale, according to González.
"Usually, we do it for two weeks, but now it will last a whole month so people can have fun viewing the items at home," explained González, who is also the company's president.
González highlights three pieces "from the three greatest legends in the history of football", Argentinians Maradona and Messi, and Brazilian Pelé.
"Pelé's jersey features his complete signature; Messi's was worn against Germany in a friendly match before the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, and Maradona's from 1981 is considered by experts as the most beautiful in football history," González explained.
According to this memorabilia collector, starting prices range from $1,000 to $18,000 per piece.
Regarding the authenticity proofs, González points out that "Maradona's jersey will show the photo of the player who exchanged it with him at that moment, more authentic than that, nothing," he stated.
González said that all the garments are "Match-Worn," meaning "used in matches."
"Sometimes there are official jerseys issued for a match, but not used. These are all used and directly from the player," he emphasized.
González also highlighted that "the two most important jerseys in Chilean football history" will be available for bidding.
One is from 1951 and stands out as one of the first models with numbers used by the southern country.
The other one is from 1973, prior to the World Cup held in 1974 in the former West Germany, "a unique French model. It was only used twice," the organizer points out.
The complete catalog of the auction will be available on the website futbolasta.com starting next Friday.
