The economic crisis due to the coronavirus pandemic affects most clubs, which are left orphaned without economic support to keep up with the payment of salaries to their players.

Two clubs that are owing payments to their players coincidentally are from the same city. "General Díaz and Luqueño had already been dealing with the problem of gross arrears. It is not just a matter related to the coronavirus," said Rogelio Delgado, president of FAP, in an interview with Fútbol a lo Grande.

The aviation team has had this problem for a while and the solution is always partial. "What is happening with General Díaz is a shame and unfortunately, repetitive," he mentioned.

Meanwhile, Luqueño also owes salaries to its employees. "Luqueño players have not been paid salaries and bonuses for qualifying for the next phase of the Sudamericana tournament for 2 months," he revealed.

Regarding a possible solution, Rogelio Delgado explained that they expect something this weekend. "The promise is that a month's salary will be paid on Friday in Luqueño. We will be very attentive," he emphasized.

The president of FAP also urged the Paraguayan Football Association to take action on the matter once and for all. "If we want to improve our football, we need to get serious. If there are two months without salary payment, there should be a loss of points or even relegation to put an end to this," he concluded.
