Effects of Strike and Isolation on Athletes
Social psychologist Gilda Picaguá has provided an analysis of what the primary effects of strike and isolation on athletes could be. She stated, "It affects them greatly, like it affects us all. The athlete misses the daily activities they were doing. Their routine physically and the space where they performed suddenly cease."
Their mood is also affected, the professional assured. "The most frequent symptoms are anxiety and uncertainty. Anxiety, in face of so much negative news and information; uncertainty, because they don't know how long and how the solution will come."
When asked about alternative therapies that could be used for football players, she indicated that "the most common thing they do on social media is to imitate and post some viral challenges; these are ways in which each one seeks stimulation or an escape to stay united and not take the situation in a very dramatic way," Picaguá concluded.
