Vélez Club from Argentina commemorates the 24th anniversary of Chilavert's unforgettable 60-meter goal

On Sunday, Vélez Club from Argentina, former team of the legendary Paraguayan, remembered the unforgettable 60-meter goal he scored against Germán Burgos in a match against River Plate.

It was the 22nd minute of the second half on March 22, 1996, when referee Carlos Mastrángelo whistled a foul committed by Uruguayan Enzo Francescoli in the middle of the field.

At that moment, the former Paraguayan goalkeeper realized that Burgos was too far from his goal and started running from his own penalty area.

Chilavert asked his teammates to move aside and the referee to crouch. With great speed, he reached the position of the ball and with an excellent shot, sent it into the back of the net, beating Burgos, who could do nothing to prevent the Paraguayan's superb goal.
