WWE Survivor Series
WWE Survivor Series took place yesterday, November 22, 2015, and celebrated The Undertaker's 25 years in WWE. The event, besides revolving around the Deadman, was focused on the tournament to crown a new WWE World Heavyweight Champion. In addition, it also left some interesting facts worth reviewing.
These are the curiosities and statistics of WWE Survivor Series 2015:
- The last time WWE had taken a PPV to Atlanta was in Hell in a Cell 2012, where CM Punk retained the WWE Championship against Ryback in a Hell in a Cell with the help of Brad Maddox.
- Neville, The Ascension, Bo Dallas, Kevin Owens, Kalisto, Xavier Woods, Charlotte, and Tyler Breeze fought for the first time in a Survivor Series event.
- The shortest match of the night was the cash-in of the Money in the Bank briefcase by Sheamus on Roman Reigns with a duration of 34 seconds.
- Excluding the surprising cash-in, the shortest match was Tyler Breeze vs. Dolph Ziggler, which lasted 6 minutes and 40 seconds.
- The longest match of the night was the traditional elimination tag team match that took place on the kickoff between Team Goldust and Team Stardust, with a duration of 18 minutes and 10 seconds.
- Goldust had not fought since he was defeated by Rusev on the March 30, 2015 edition of Raw.
- Dean Ambrose's victory over Kevin Owens was only his second PPV win in 2015, the first being against Luke Harper at Extreme Rules.
- This is the tenth time that Paige fights for the Divas Championship in a PPV.
- In addition, this match featured the only two women who have held both the NXT Women's Championship and the WWE Divas Championship.
- Charlotte vs. Paige is the second longest defense in the history of the Divas Championship, just one second behind AJ Lee vs. Natalya's 14 minutes and 19 seconds.
- This was the first defeat suffered by Dolph Ziggler at Survivor Series under his current name.
- It is also the first time that Dolph Ziggler competes in Survivor Series without being in a tag team match or a title match.
- The Undertaker and Kane had not fought as a team in a PPV since Survivor Series 2001 when they were part of Team WWF against Team Alliance.
- This is The Brothers of Destruction's fifth victory together in a PPV.
- This is the 18th match of The Undertaker in a PPV. His record in the event is now 13-5.
- This is the second time in 2015 that Roman Reigns loses a one-on-one match in a PPV by countout or submission, the first being against Bray Wyatt at Battleground.
- 17 years later, Roman Reigns wins his first WWE Championship in the same way The Rock did, emerging victorious from a tournament at Survivor Series for the vacant title.
- Sheamus is the first man to cash in the Money in the Bank briefcase at Survivor Series.
