The cases of new coronavirus in football continue to spread. On Monday, Valencia CF published a statement on their website stating that 35% of their team (players and coaches) tested positive for a new COVID-19 test.

As of yesterday, Sunday, March 15, the team from Spain had five infected individuals: three players (Ezequiel Garay, Eliaquim Mangala, and José Luis Gayá), delegate Paco Camarasa, and doctor Juan Aliaga.

Although the updated document does not detail names, the recent published statement specifies that "all cases are asymptomatic and are at home under medical supervision and isolation measures, carrying out their scheduled work plan normally".

In addition, the club criticized the delayed reaction to the suspension of football in Europe and blamed the match against Atalanta in Italy for this news: "Despite the strict measures taken by the Club after playing a UEFA Champions League match in Milan on February 19, 2020, a confirmed high-risk area by the Italian authorities days later, keeping the team away from the workplace and the general public, the latest results show that the inherent exposure during matches has caused around 35% positive cases".

Finally, the club recommended the population to stay at home and strictly follow "all published hygiene and prevention measures".
