Chelsea announced that one of their players, Callum Hudson-Odoi, has tested positive for the new coronavirus. The club has partially closed its facilities to begin testing on people who were in close contact with the player.
"Chelsea's male team player, Callum Hudson-Odoi, had a positive result for Coronavirus on his return tonight. Chelsea's staff who had recent contact with the male team player will now self-isolate in accordance with Government health guidelines. This will include initially the full men's team squad, coaching staff and a number of backroom staff", the club stated.
Chelsea ensured that the 19-year-old player is doing well and under supervision. "Callum displayed symptoms similar to a mild cold on Monday morning and has not been at the training ground since then as a precaution. However, his test came back positive tonight and he will undergo a period of self-isolation. Despite the positive test for the virus, Callum is doing well and looking forward to returning to training as soon as possible", they added.
The Premier League announced that the 30th round will be played normally and with spectators. However, after Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta tested positive for coronavirus, it is expected that the English entity will make a statement on Saturday.
