Football is increasingly presenting more news and these also reach the environment of referees. It happens that now Conmebol and UEFA have signed an agreement that includes the possibility of exchanging referees in their main tournaments and organizing intercontinental matches.
The announcement came from the South American entity after the approval of the points in Switzerland, where it was also detailed that the agreement includes a program to facilitate the participation of European referees in the group stage of the Copa America and also South American referees in the same stage of the Euro 2020.
The exchange could also occur at the club level in similar competitions such as the Champions League and the Copa Libertadores, and between the Europa League and the Copa Sudamericana.
"Today's agreement marks a first step to allow UEFA and Conmebol to cooperate closely so that we can share experience and knowledge for the development of the game in both continents," said UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin.
In Peru, the main referees with FIFA certification who could be considered for this new program are Víctor Hugo Carrillo, Diego Haro, Michael Espinoza, Joel Alarcón, Kevin Ortega, Miguel Santiváñez, and Edwin Ordóñez.
