The 2020 Chinese Grand Prix, which corresponded to the fourth round of the Formula 1, has been postponed without setting a new date yet due to the coronavirus epidemic affecting the country, according to an official statement by the International Automobile Federation (FIA).
Both the organization of the event and the FIA themselves announced that they have accepted the promoter's request to postpone the race to a new date, given the uncertainty caused by the coronavirus outbreak in the country. The race, which was supposed to take place at the Shanghai International Circuit between April 17 and 19, was the fourth round of the competition.
"The Chinese Grand Prix has always been a very important part of the F1 calendar and the fans are always incredible. We all look forward to competing in China as soon as possible and we wish everyone in the country the best in this difficult time," said Formula 1 in a statement.
The coronavirus had already postponed the Nanjing Athletics World Championship by one year and canceled the China ePrix of the Formula E.
After the cancellation of the Chinese GP, the competition will jump from the Vietnam round, debuting this year and scheduled for April 5, to the Dutch Grand Prix, which is scheduled for May 3 at the Zandvoort Circuit.
